Progress Update

Updated the PAL, Communication log Project Portfolio and modify the blogs front page. The options for connectivity will be discussed with client and facilities.
Completed 65% construction drawing and specification comments.
Creating future meeting for the Information Technology design and equipment review for Infrastructure, telephones, media resources, ITV, cabling, and associated vendors.

Progress Update

Updated the PAL, Communication log Project Portfolio and modify the blogs front page. The options for connectivity will be discussed with client and facilities.
Completed 70% construction drawing and specification comments.
Following up with media resources on the estimate for large conference room.
Phase one needs to be completed first before building construction can start.
The college NE group has decided to use 7 tube ABF as opposed to a 19 tube ABF. This will allow for a smaller nema box and provide an easier turn radius for the ABF.
The AV conference room has been approved and agreed by campus administrators.

The college NE group has decided to use 7 tube ABF as opposed to a 19 tube ABF.

A GT BE Vault on site review took place on Oct 8th discussing Neman boxes and ABF tube type.
Two additional computer labs have been added to the project.
Client meetings with facilities to review furniture for labs.
Received AV design for large conference room.
Request for video conferencing in one of the break out rooms.
Follow up with media resource group on the AV sign off on large conference room design from client.
Following up with the college NE group on the estimated quote for IT equipment in the greenhouse.

Progress Update

Create separate project for the new road and greenhouse which is a part of the GT BE project.
Discuss IT requirements with cabling and NE groups.
Facilities to setup meeting with client to review their IT requirements.
Reviewed updated AV construction drawings and sent comments back to vendor for updates.
Facilities are still work to setup a meeting with the client that will be using the greenhouse to address their IT requirements.
Follow up on architects sending back construction comments from 35% CD.
Recieved updated AV construction drawings from vendor and forward them to facilities on August 5th.

Working with the ITV group on their cabling locations for the large conference room.
Complete Convergent Technology drawings comments and forward to facilities.
Review client storage request with network services. SharePoint was mentioned as a possible option.
Review Convergent Technology drawings comments with facilities.
Informed ITV about the meeting on the large conference room so they could have someone present at the meeting.
Reviewed the updated AV design drawings to reflect changes from the last set of drawings.
There was a meeting held on June 3rd with ITV, GT campus provost, media resources, and GT VP to discuss their vision of the design for the large conference room.
A meeting has been setup for June 17th to review the new updated AV construction drawings with facilities, vendor, and media resource group. This meeting is to clarify in concerns and design misunderstanding about the AV construction drawings.
Meeting is planned to be setup with the client for their IT requirements for the Greenhouse.

Progress Update

Updated the PAL, Communication log Project Portfolio and blogs to reflect the most recent project activities.

Reviewed the vendor telecommunication drawings with FIP group.

A facilities meeting on May 4th to discuss the duct bank path for data, voice, CATV, and electric. An eight way duct bank from SA to BE was agreed to during the meeting.

Setup future biweekly progress meetings through 2011.

Continue working with client and Intech on client data storage requirements and design.

Completed comments for Convergent Technology TA drawings and sent comments back to facilities.

A follow up with the Network Engineering group is setup for May 14th to discuss the data storage options in the ITOC.

Meeting setup with ITOC mangers to review and discuss the clients request for data space for students and faculty.

Follow up with ITV on their cable locations for the large conference room.

Progress Update

Met with network services reviewing the infrastructure devices, WIFI AP count for every room.

Continue to follow up with NE group on the AP locations through -out the building.
Working with the client to confirm their peripheral request. Also what type of storage space needed for data.

The request for wireless printing with laptops in the building is not standard college and has security factors per the security and NE group. The testing continues but the college is not there yet. I need to meet with the client and review options for their request.

Continue following up on the wireless printing with laptops until the client is in agreement with a solution. Working on dates and time with client to meet.
A meeting is scheduled for April 23rd with the college NE group to review the infrastructure rack layout and equipment for each telecomm room.

Progress update

Reviewing the IT staging and cubicle space in lower level with client.

Reviewed voice requirements and the estimated number of fiber to the building with network services.

A meeting was held to discuss the phone system for the GT BE project and the design criteria used. The focus of the meeting is to gain a better understanding of VoIP technology and how the new technology may directly impact the BE building project (and others) in terms of building system requirements.

A site walkthrough to visit the IT vault, the SA MDF, and generator location, and conduit path into the SA MDF.

Met with the IT security and Network Services discussing wireless printing solution for academic college laptops.

Progress update

Discussed the voice requirements for the Germantown Bioscience Center building with telephone group and network services. VOIP will be deployed into the building.
Reviewed civil drawings in a meeting with facilities, engineers for GT BE site.
Reviewed existing MDF for possible expansion and space for new conduits in the building.
Reviewed existing power requirements for new building and possible IT power requirements for the telecomm closets.
Started reviewing data storage request from client.

Progress Update

The conference room design and other surrounding rooms are still being reviewed and discusses by facilities and the client.

A GT BIO IT meeting took place March 3rd. Each floor was reviewed for IT requirements with IT vendor and architects. Future discussions will continue on the IT requirements.

The exterior of connectivity to the building was discussed and reviewed. Further decisions on this will be reviewed after a site visit is done.

The conference room AV and ITV design continues to be reviewed. Once a decision has been made on the conference room design, the AV and ITV groups can make their decisions on their designs.

The meeting on Feb 16th was a briefing on first floor design options to have a Media resource storage, recitation room sizes, and loading dock area.

Confirming with the college engineers if the building layout will support their requirements in calculating access points.

Reviewing the meeting from facilities PM with the clients on IT requirements.

Reviewed Media Resources room design by facilities. Forward this information to Media resources for comments/concerns.

Progress Update

FIP group review and comments on design.

The meeting on Feb 2nd with the infrastructure vendor and college Network Engineers discussed the design layout. The design of the infrastructure reviewed options and what the benefits are to the college.

The college NE group and vendor are working on AP location based on the floor dimensions.

Due to the change in design of the large conference room facilities will schedule a meeting with the client to review a new design.

Fiber amount and location was discussed with the college Network Engineering Group.

Progress Update

Reviewing 50% CD and preparing comments on design.

Meet with AV, facilities, engineers, and ITV to confirm and review floor boxes, cabling of SIWS, number of conduits for the locations. Did a walkthrough of the Commons Building and Cultural Art Center that illustrated what and what not to do for ITV and AV standards.

Met with facilities, ITV, AV, architects, and engineers to discuss the large conference room design. A meeting was held on January 6th, 2010 that involved the college administration to discuss the conference room floor plan. It was decided that the conference room will be capable of splitting in half rather than quarters. Due to the change in design a meeting will be scheduled with the client to review a new design with the college AV and ITV groups.

A meeting was schedule for Jan 20th, 2010 with the NE and cabling to groups to review the amount of fiber required for the infrastructure connectivity in the building and out of the building.
